Dear Commissioner, ADF&G officials, and Mat-Su Valley legislative delegation,

Please do not close the 2018 Upper Cook Inlet / Susitna Drainage king salmon season. Instead, please approve the proposals created by the ADF&G Palmer office area managers.

1 – Close the east side Parks Hwy streams to king salmon fishing including Talkeetna and Chulitna drainages. The Parks Hwy streams would remain open to fishing for other species other than king salmon including the portions of the streams below the Parks Hwy bridges.
2 – The Deshka River would remain open to king salmon fishing but with no bait, artificial single hook restrictions, and an adjusted annual limit of 2 king salmon. Run assessment and possible closure decision to be made on June 12th.
3 – The Little Susitna River would remain open 7 days per week with normal regulations except an adjusted annual limit of 2 king salmon. Run assessment and possible closure decisions to be made in June.
4 – Lake Creek on Yentna remains open to retention of king salmon 4 days per week with normal regs except an adjusted annual limit of 2 king salmon. Run assessment and possible closure decisions to be made in June.
